Abstract images – What you see is what you get

I set out to make abstract compositions that hold the attention without realistic references; no starting point, no ‘inspiration’.

Brains, of course, persuade us to create our own realities.
Is it a bird?
Is it a plane?
Is it YET ANOTHER landscape?
So titles are often designed to reinforce ambiguity rather than make anything certain.

As a musician I prefer music without words; as an artist there is something complete about paintings without figurative references.
Rigorously abstract images emerge through the physical energy of mark marking and layering.

Recent excursions into more figurative and thematic territory are proving a dilemma, maybe a counterpoint to the main theme.
